On Friday, February 17th, from 1pm to 7pm we will be holding our Third Biannual Blood Drive for the American Red Cross. Our promotion is called “A pint for a pint.” The Red Cross bus will in front of the gelateria.

If you donate a pint of blood, we will match that with a pint of our finest gelato or sorbetto. There are over 50 flavors to choose from! Due to popular demand from previous blood drives, this year it will be by appointment only - and there are a limited number of slots! Sign up early to ensure yourself a spot (and a pint) by calling us at 510-883-1568 or in person at 2106 Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley. We are located in between Center and Addison Streets.

C’mon, it’s for a great cause!

We will celebrate Valentine’s Day by filling an entire showcase with chocolate gelato. That means 22 different flavors of chocolate!

Starting on the Friday before Valentine’s Day (Feb. 10th) our stores will feature an entire showcase of nothing but chocolate gelato. Our other showcase will still feature the favorite gelato flavors as well as fresh fruit sorbetto and soy. It will be a great romantic treat or a solo indulgence.

This is the third year we have done this special promotion. It is great fun to watch our guests get wide-eyed when they walk into the store and see all of the chocolate flavors. Look for my personal favorite, Tartufo, as well as my beautiful wife’s creation, Keoke Coffee. Keoke Coffee Gelato is a chocolate gelato with coffee, brandy and Kahlua, just like the after-dinner drink.

Blood oranges are in season and we are featuring this flavor nearly everyday. This is a traditional Italian flavor. Our Blood Orange Sorbetto is made with fresh blood oranges, sugar and water.

A blood orange is an orange with reddish-orange skin and a beautiful red interior. Blood oranges have a distinctive flavor that is bolder than a traditional orange. Blood oranges are originally from Sicily and are now grown in Southern California.

Incidentally the pomegranate season is now over, which is a shame because we love Pomegranate Sorbetto!

Authentically brewed in milk instead of water, we use loose leaf CTC black tea with freshly crushed Indian cinnamon, ginger and cardamom to make this gelato. We are currently rolling it out at our Berkeley gelateria. Please let us know what you think!
